Your Therapist Mom Friend
Compassionate Care for Every Stage of Your Parenting Journey
Find tailored support for your stage of parenting
Whether that’s trying to conceive, dealing with your own childhood wounds as you parent, struggling to find connection with your spouse in a demanding season, or seeking parenting support to change cycles with your child. The myriad of needs in parenting require specialized support.
Finding a therapist can be a lot of work. It’s tiring to put yourself out there to make a connection, especially when sharing vulnerable and weighty parts of yourself. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship you have with your therapist is one of the key factors that lead to growth and change. Take the time to make sure things feel right to you. Even if it’s not me, I’ll do my best to help connect you with other therapists who can meet your needs!
Individual Therapy
Parenting unlocks wounds and struggles unlike any other season of life – the hopeful news is that we don’t have to let ourselves be overwhelmed by those changes. I am trained in perinatal mental health support, meaning I specialize in knowing how to treat and support the incredible journey into parenthood and the struggles that accompany it. I work with people in all stages of their parenting journey, whether you are struggling to conceive and dealing with the grief of that, or you are grappling with the newfound independence of a teenager and how to hold your identity as a parent as they get ready to leave, you deserve space and support for your individual experience.
Couples Therapy
Research shows that 67% of couples experience decreased marital satisfaction after having kids. Instead of focusing on that struggle, let’s ask the question, “What are the other 33% of couples doing to increase or maintain their satisfaction? I utilize the Gottman Institute’s tested and researched strategies, tailored to the parent experience, along with Emotion-Focused Therapy, to help partners feel seen, supported, united, and secure in their relationship. Having kids adds a major, untested dynamic to relationships, but with support and attention, you and your partner can find connection amid the chaos.
Family Coaching
As far as I know, kids don’t come with a handbook of how to support them, which can often leave us feeling like we are in constant reaction mode when it comes to their behavior. We seek doctors appointment when we suspect something is affecting our children physically, but we don’t often seek help when we feel stuck in a negative parenting cycle. Seeking coaching provides a way to get out of the weeds of parenting and gain new perspectives and clarity on current struggles. Take an opportunity to step back with your partner, receive outside, research-backed support from a therapist, and reenter the dynamic with new skills and approaches to help change cycles in your parenting.
Parenting Groups
It can be so refreshing to be in a room with other parents in your same stage of parenthood - we feel less alone, finally seeing that we aren’t the only one who struggles while also gaining new ideas and fresh perspectives. I have two current and ongoing groups at The Den parent social club in Denver, CO. The Toddler Cohort meets once a week for 4 weeks to discuss topics that impact you and your toddler. We’ll cover Toddler Led Play, Encouraging Independence, Limit Setting, and Emotion Coaching while also answering your burning questions and scenarios. Not only will you get valuable information and coaching, but you’ll also meet new friends in the same season of life. The Expecting Parents Meet-Up happens one Saturday a month, where we discuss communication and connection between partners before they have a child. This gives you a chance to build an informed foundation with your partner to ensure that the rocky waters of new parenthood won’t rattle your marriage. Reserve your spot in either meet-up today through my events page!
Public Speaking
There is nothing I love more than diving into the topics I am most passionate about - creating thriving families by supporting and encouraging each member with informed and gentle guidance. With more than 20 years of public speaking experience, I add a relatable yet expert presence to gatherings large and small. I have spoken to corporate organizations such as Monday.com and BPX Energy, as well as to local MomCo groups across the Denver area. I have been a guest speaker on virtual gatherings for Very Good Mothers Club and other podcasts, and my topics range from Managing the Mother Load to Dealing with Caregiver Burnout. Regardless of the topic, I’ll bring my experience, warmth, and professionalism to your gathering or podcast. Email me for more information.
